We’ve recently revamped the Mission statement for The New Narrative and want to use the next three posts to go more in depth into each of the three pillars of the new mission statement, which are Build Community, Discover Ourselves, & Change the Narrative. In this first post we’ll start with Build Community.
The work we do focuses on connecting with ourselves and others, to form the relationships that bring true meaning and fulfillment into our lives. We work to rewrite the stories that have kept us small and in opposition to others, and replace them with “new narratives” that connect us with ourselves, each other, and the wider world around us.
Ever since the George Floyd murder and the Black Lives Matter protests began a couple of weeks ago, I’ve certainly gone through my own process of better understanding my part in systematic racism, how I can do better going forward, and how I intend to personally react to the situation now. While I’m working through all that for myself, I also have another set of questions about how The New Narrative should respond to what’s going on too. I’d love to open up a discussion on this with anybody who has thoughts to share.
