Storycrafting: Resilience

  • Collective Impact Center 3295 Meade Avenue San Diego, CA 92116 (map)

Update: March 17, 2020. Due to coronavirus, we’re going to take Storycrafting online this month. Advance registration is still appreciated. There is a "Pay What You Can" option on the registration page too.

We're looking forward to seeing everybody there and trying to bring some community into our lives to counteract the "social distancing." We'll send out the link to the event shortly before we get started.

Storycrafting is for anybody who would like to learn more about storytelling, both as a communication tool and as a way to better understand ourselves and the world around us. Storytelling is a skill that improves with practice and a deepening mindset towards how storytelling influences our perceptions. With a stronger understanding of storytelling, you’ll also develop skills for better leadership, persuasion, and authentic relating.

Sessions are socially-oriented learning experiences that ask participants to craft and share stories with one another, both to gain more experience as a storyteller and develop more confidence in the stories we all have to share. These sessions are designed to be engaging, participatory, and will hopefully lead to meaningful social experiences.

Infused in all of it will be a deeper exploration of courage and vulnerability. By sharing more of ourselves and the stories that influence us, we hope everybody will come to understand themselves better, “own their story,” and walk with more courage and confidence in the world.

If this sounds like something you’d benefit from, we’d love to have you join us.

This week we'll be talking about Resilience. Resilience is the capacity to recover quickly and persevere through challenges. Much of the time, our resiliency is tied to the stories we tell ourselves. What stories could they be? Why do we tell them to ourselves? How could we create new stories in our lives that make us stronger?
