The New Narrative and Coronavirus

What will happen to New Narrative events during Coronavirus?

March 13, 2020

There’s a lot going on right now. On a certain level, our 20-40 person events aren’t of huge consequence in the immediate term, but I have a feeling that in a couple of days or weeks the need for community engagement—for mutual aid and also emotional/spiritual uplifting—is going to come back strong. With that in mind, below is the current plan for how The New Narrative will operate during coronavirus.

The current plan is to take all our events online.

What does an online storytelling show look like? We’re going to find out with Daring Stories next week. We’re also planning to go online with ReThink on April 8 and maybe schedule a Storycrafting workshop somewhere in between.

I’m bouncing around some ideas and looking at platforms. I’m also reviewing previous survey responses to see what some of the most important aspects of our events have been for each of us and trying to think of ways to duplicate them in an online format. It should be an interesting experiment.

In the meantime, myself and The New Narrative will definitely be feeling the impact of the pending economic downturn, much like everybody else. I’m in the process of considering some changes to lower the price for the next round of events. It still might take me a couple of days to make a plan and implement it. In the meantime, your support is helpful and important. If you would like to register ahead of time to show your support, feel free to use the discount code “storyteller” to save a couple of bucks off for now.

That’s it for now. I’ll update this post as things progress. If you have thoughts or feedback, I’d love to hear from you. I can be reached at nathan@thenewnarrative.org.

Thanks!

Nathan

P.S. As a general rule, I never want to turn anybody away over price. If you genuinely can’t afford it, never hesitate to reach out.
