Ozzie Monge is a, among other roles, a Lecturer at San Diego State University in the Department of American Indian Studies. Ozzie’s professional interests focus on the social and political issues deriving from settler colonialism, always with an eye, mind, and heart to aspire towards decolonization.
His M.A. thesis “Fail Montezuma! : The last vestiges of an obscured yet stubbornly persistent culture of racism at San Diego State University” reflects his specific interest in (mis)representations of Native American people (as mascots, through film and by educational institutions).
