Melissa is the associate pastor at San Diego First Church of the Nazarene. Her work enlivens her passion for teaching, compassionate ministry, spiritual direction, mediating cross-cultural relationships and experiences, and organizational theory. In 2014, she completed a masters in nonprofit leadership and management from University of San Diego and in 2015, she earned a masters in theology from Point Loma Nazarene University. She was ordained in 2016.
Melissa adores San Diego – the place of perpetual sun, so many cultures, proximity to the Mexico border, and a big net of family and friends. At all times, you will find her involved in one or more of the following: humming a funk tune, eating popcorn, or making ridiculous puns/combo words.
For the New Narrative event on the theme of Love, Sex, and Relationships, Melissa will be sharing her story of exploring her dating life (or lack thereof…) as a pastor in an evangelical denomination and what it’s like to live out her calling as a single women in her 40s.
