The pandemic has been rough on us all in different ways. There was the isolation, the anxiety, the tension with different friends and family members, not to mention the stress from having to work through it all or that many of us suddenly found ourselves unemployed with few opportunities and unreliable public assistance.
And even though in many respects we’re still in the pandemic, the reopening is happening. Public spaces are opening back up, the 6ft of distance and mask mandates are gone, public assistance is being cut off, and many of us are being called back into work.
It’s nice to be able to get the kids out of the house and hug friends again without the threat of a deadly illness, but the whole experience of “opening up” has been rather jarring for many of us, especially without much attention paid to processing or discussion on stressful ~15 months we all just endured.
This gathering is our attempt to offer some time and space for us to process our pandemic experiences together. We’ll start each session with some time for journaling to collect our thoughts before opening up the group for discussion. Bring something to write with. We’ll provide some supplies for visual journaling too.
And even though we present a theme for each session, we’ll keep it open for all of us to go whichever direction feels most important for us each time too.
