Writing Your Story: Creating Impact With Your Personal Narrative

Storytelling is at the core of human communication. It’s how we process thoughts, relate to each other, and express a shared worldview. Learning how to express your goals, passions, and experiences in the context of story can help you become a more powerful speaker, leader, and influencer. You’ll be able to more effectively connect with your audience, share your vision, attract the right people to you, and get to know yourself better too.

Writing Your Story is a workshop focused on helping you take the story you've got in your head and get it out on paper. We'll explore the most impactful aspects of your vision and experiences, and craft them into a cohesive personal narrative that can be shared via writing, public speaking, online content, or even casual conversation. By having this story written and composed you’ll be able to better express your ideas and share what’s truly important to you to create the kind of impact your vision deserves.

We'll go over:

  • How to expresses your life, goals, and vision as a story that gets people on board.

  • The basic elements of storytelling, why each is important, and how they could be applied to your story.

  • The difference between an average story and a story that truly captures and engages an audience.

  • How to structure a story, whether it’s a simple anecdote or a life long narrative.

  • How to think of your story modularly, so you can use all or parts of it depending on the circumstances.

  • How to use your story to make the first steps towards your goals and aspirations.

  • How to speak from your highest truth to set your story apart.

This workshop will be especially valuable for impact and mission-driven individuals. Impact driven entrepreneurs will learn how to craft their story in a way that will emotionally resonate with their audience. Visionaries will learn how to share their ideas in a way that will motivate and inspire. Individuals that struggle to find confidence in their story and self-expression will gain the tools they need to craft and structure a more impactful and expressive story.

The truth is, our stories have a lot of power. By holding onto them we not only cut ourselves off from the gift it can offer to other people, but it also keeps us from knowing our true selves.

By joining this workshop, participants will leave with a stronger understanding of themselves and their story, and the tools to sharing that story with the world. Crafting your story is a crucial step towards brave leadership and being able to express yourself with courage, authenticity, and strength.

The tools learned here can be applied to both personal and professional endeavors. This workshop can benefit individuals at all levels of growth, expression, and personal development.

About the Instructor: Nathan Young

Nathan Young is a communications coach and storytelling mentor. For over eight years, he's been helping individuals and organizations connect with their audience through storytelling. His focus is on storytelling because it has the ability to foster connection and inspire action in a way no other medium can provide. He’s seen first hand how a well-told story can hold an audience’s attention and inspire them to action.

Nathan is also the founder and executive director of The New Narrative, a social initiative that takes a critical look at the primary narratives that influence our cultural lives to see if it’s time to create a “new narrative” that can be more equitable, fulfilling, and sustainable for all. The primary medium of the New Narrative is storytelling. By sharing the stories of what’s most important to us we can shape the narrative of the world we live in.
