For our next live social event the New Narrative explores the theme of Family.

Our notion of family is changing and moving away from the concept of the traditional nuclear family. There’s now the common dynamic of divorce and co-parenting; adults living alone or waiting until later in life to start families; and the many cultural, personal and social dynamics emerging to affect families in ways that weren’t prevalent in previous generations. Yet family still remains an important cultural institution in our world. Our families have a profound effect on who we are as people. Many of us turn to family for support, while others struggle with emotional scars or expectations that come from their families. Throughout it all we still fight for everybody’s right to start a family, to keep their families together and to find the right level of love, support and companionship that it takes to get through the world today. 

What do we want our families to look like in the New Narrative? What role will families play in our lives? How can we foster the qualities that create the types of families we want to live in? How thick do blood bonds really go?

The next event of the New Narrative invites speakers from the arts, academia, activist, science, spirituality, business and neighborhood communities to share their stories, insights and experiences on the theme of Family.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The talks will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Food and drink will be available for purchase from San Diego Taco Company and Pisto Beer & Wine Catering.
